UAE sound proofing company says services are in demand

ABU DHABI // One sound proofing company said it repeatedly get requests from frustrated residents asking for help in drowning out unwanted noise.

“We get requests seeking solutions to address noise complaints in residential buildings, exteriors and enclosures, commercial buildings and other institutions," said Vinayan Nambiar, project director of Moov Group, a Dubai company that provides acoustic solutions.

Most commonly, noise complaints are about loud construction works, he said.

Others include reverberation or echo problems inside offices, classrooms and auditorium halls.

“Sound transmission and isolation issues are also common problems inside commercial and residential buildings," said Mr Nambiar.

However, there are soundproofing tips residents can use to safeguard their ears, he said.

“Other than cutting the noise at source, one can use materials like decorative wall panels and baffles, which help in sound absorption," said Mr Nambiar. “In commercial buildings, sound blocking doors, acoustic ceilings and walls can be used to minimise noise."

Noise nuisance can be very detrimental to a person’s wellbeing, he said.

“Noise reduces productivity and performance quality unknowingly," said Mr Nambiar. “It induces stress and messes with the clarity of mind.

“Studies have shown that acoustically sound working environments produce better results in employee creativity.

“With a growing number of noise-generating machines and tech gear installed everywhere in our homes and offices, the need for good acoustics is paramount."
